The delightful properties of The Right Bank (Pomerol, Saint-Emilion) and of The Left Bank (Médoc) have come to present us the 2018 vintage. After receiving over 1400 guests in one week (from the first to the fifth of April), they now may fairly unwind. It truly was a great success. Out of all the visitors, we were able to notice that many of them were Chinese.
2018 would be a substantial vintage. The owners, after having feared the worst until back in June, were able to little by little find themselves cheering up once more in July and August and offer us a wine that had nothing to envy to that of the 2016 and 2015 vintages. Without any doubt, this new opus will find its place among the big ones that have written the history of Bordeaux.
We want to shed some light on the 2015 vintage. In order to do so, we have analysed twenty of the greatest castles that have the best value of Bordeaux. Just remember that 2015 is a great year. It gave us the wines of guard which knew how to keep its novelty. They have depth and structure.
A long segment is devoted to the passage of organic farming in the vineyards of Bordeaux. At a time where the problems of pollution and preservation of the planet are at the heart of our concerns, the owners are moving towards an ecological orientation.
Some decide to go all the way in this mesure. The most recognized properties are now working their vines according to the principles of organic agriculture or biodyamic as it is the case of Château Latour, Château Palmer, Château Pontet Canet, Château Smith Haut-Lafitte, Château Angelus, Château Ausone … They will continue in this way, despite that, in 2018, Château Palmer had to paid a heavy price for harvesting only a third of its harvest. Château Pontet Canet has almost lost everything. But why would this be of importance? Because, as Confucius condents, “who does not care about the distant future, condemns himself to immediate worries”.
